Helloooooo there :)

Today I have for you a review on a foundation I have been trying out recently, Rimmel Wake Me Up! There has been sooo much buzz around this foundation, and ALOT of rave reviews.

The retail price varies from store to store, and  also country to country! As with everything else in Australia, it is more expensive here (BOOOOO!). I think I picked it up from my local supermarket on sale for around $12, which was heavily reduced! So since I have seen so many people talking about it, I thought I would try it :) Before I start I should let you know I have pretty oily skin, especially on my forehead and around my nose. I like light to medium coverage in my foundations, I have okay skin to begin with so I don’t feel like I need super heavy coverage, I just use a concealer on the places where I have blemishes or scars :)

Okay, now to the review. To be honest, at first I HATED this. I could not get it to work. It was cakey, uneven and made me look like a disco ball. I kept with it, and played around with a few different application methods and finally I fell a little in love with it! I found that using only the tiniest bit on my foundation brush is the best way  to use it (I use the Coastal Scents Classic Tapered Kabuki Stick- my favourite foundation brush and very affordable!) and BLEND! Once you blend the crap out of it, use extra if you need to where you have imperfections, but with this foundation LESS IS MORE.

I have pretty oily skin, so I was scared of the glitter in this, but once on your skin you really can’t see it. It just kind of gives your skin a bit of a glow without looking like someone dumped glitter on your face.

The only problem I have with this is that having oily skin, this foundation tends to wear off on me by the end of the day! I do use a primer to help with this but I am yet to find one that truly lengthens the wear of this! If you don’t have really oily skin like mine, or you have a fantastic primer, you probably won’t have that problem :)

I would probably give this 7 out of 10, because it does make your skin look lovely and glowy, but for me it just doesn’t last long enough! Like I said, it could just be a case of finding an awesome primer, but on it’s own, it just leaves a lot to be desired!

I thought I would start off my blog talking about what I think is the most important part of your makeup routine: skincare.

Starting with a good base can make all the difference, so make sure you take good care of your skin!

My first HG skin care item would have to be my toner, Paula’s Choice Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution (RRP 38.00 AUD). For the longest time I didn’t use a toner, then I discovered this little gem and I must say, I am now hooked!

It will not work miracles for your skin overnight. You need to use it regularly morning and night to notice a difference. It does not stop all my breakouts, it is unfortunately inevitable to experience breakouts every now and then (that time of the month, ladies!), but over all I think the texture of my skin has improved dramatically and I break out far less often, and when I do, they are not nearly as bad. I have super sensitive skin, and I love that this targets acne but it still gentle enough to use twice a day on my sensitive skin. LOVE :)

Keeping with the Paula’s Choice theme, I also could not live without my daytime moisturiser. I use the Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion (RRP 40.75 AUD).

This is the only moisturiser that I have ever used that is hydrating enough that my skin feels moisturised,  yet not so heavy that my oily skin ends up looking like a giant grease ball (hot). It has a lot of beneficial ingredients for your skin, like anti oxidants, that are supposed to improve the texture and appearance of your skin, and I must say that I have definitely noticed an improvement!

I have never seen Paula’s Choice products on the shelves in Australia; I buy mine online from the Paula’s Choice website! The products are far cheaper on the US website, but living in Australia, as with everything else, the products are so.freaking.expensive. For me, it is worth it for these two products, but I have tried other things from the Paula’s Choice line that I didn’t feel were worth the money.

The last product I want to talk about is coconut oil.

This stuff is AMAZING. You can use it as a moisturiser all over your body, you can use it as a hair mask and you can use it as a facial moisturiser, which is what I love it for! I use it as my night moisturiser, because as it is an oil, I find it too much for my skin during the day. It is full of nutrients that are amazing for your skin, it is like my  miracle-in-a-jar! Could not live without it!

As for a cleanser, I have tried a few but I haven’t found one that I love and keep going back to. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them! Just leave a comment below :)

Hey everyone, welcome to my blog!

I am new at this so bear with me while I learn the ropes :)

I might just start with a little about myself! As I sit here and write this, I am a 20 year old university student with a love (read: obsession) for all thinks beauty related. Here you will find reviews on things I love and things I don’t love, tips and tricks I have picked up and other beauty related randomness!

I am by no means a professional, and I won’t pretend I am an expert or that I know everything there is to know. These are just my opinions and what works for me :)

Stay tuned!
